Our Trip Thus Far…

“A New Age Has(‘nt) Begun”

I tried doing this twice yesterday, but I kept getting way too detailed. I guess all I can say, is that Prince Caspian the movie was almost nothing like Prince Caspian the book. Since I LOVE that book, it made me really mad. I can put up with adding/removing a scene or idea here or there but my gosh, man! Not only did they screw up the timeline, they added numerous unnecessary scenes, and worst of all….. they changed Caspian and Peter’s personalities (not to mention that Caspian is supposed to be fair haired boy around Peter’s age, maybe a little younger- not a dark haired 20-something!)!! Sheesh! Ok, I’m done.

No, it’s not a new age. They’ve been messing up good books for the sake of gaining a larger audience for years now.

60 Things About Me

Ok, Heather did a “100 Things About Me” post. I must not be nearly as deep or interesting as her because try as I might, all I could come up with right now were 60. Most of you know all of this stuff, but it’s kinda fun doing it. I’m not tagging anybody in particular, but I would love to read anyone else’s “things about me” if any of you decide to do it too!

1. My middle name is “Danielle”

2. My goal was to NEVER marry a musician. (Steve played the piano CONSTANTLY while we were growing up, and probably because of that, I hate to hear Josh practice guitar. Steve, you owe Josh an apology.)

8. Mystery is my favorite type of book to read.

10. I had my ears pierced when I was 11 but the thought of putting something through a hole in my ear disgusted me, so after a couple weeks I took out the original pair and never put another earing in.

11. My first actor crush was Gene Kelly.

35. When I was a teenager, I used to wear a ring on almost every finger and several necklaces at a time. (hey, it was the 90’s!) Now, I hate wearing rings and I only wear one necklace occasionally that I got at American Eagle about 7 years ago.

Taco Seasoning

The other day I stumbled upon this recipe for making your own taco seasoning. I decided to try it that nite and it was delicious! It calls for a little bit of this and a little bit of that so it doesn’t take alot of one particular spice and is definitely cheaper to make than to buy a seasoning packet. It makes about 3-4 tbsp total and I found that 2 full for 1 lb meat was just right. Just add a little water to it when you put the mix in with the meat and heat on low til it’s hot. I think I will go ahead and make up several “batches” of it so that it’s ready to go anytime I need it!

Fun in the shade

Trix and Tom decided to try my “lay out” basket out for size while I was laying out earlier. Trix fit perfectly and stayed in there quite a while, but poor fat Tom did not think it was quite big enough for him and after several tries he gave up and retreated to another shaded area. I just love the way kitties like trying out “new” things! I love ’em!

It was a very “yellow” Mother’s Day!

I cooked Mother’s Day lunch for the family yesterday. I found some recipes online for Garlic/Lime Chicken breasts, roasted asparagus and pearl onions in Balsamic marinade. I also fixed rice and tomatoes, Caesar salad and garlic bread. Renee brought yummy cheesecake for dessert. I spent $55 on the meal which fed 8, and then we took Josh’s mom out for dinner at Fatz and spent $50 which fed 3. I wish eating out wasn’t so expensive! I really didn’t want to have to cook a major meal twice in one day, and we do not have room to have had both families over for lunch, so we decided to just take her out. But anyway, the food at Fatz was delicious as always 🙂 Here are some pics I took at lunch and a cute pic of Trix where she fell asleep with her little head drooped over the arm of the couch! Mom is wearing the outfit that Josh and I got her for Mother’s Day in the first pic.

SOCK RACE!!!
